The Seminole County System - Is it changing - some info,

Anonymous — February 1, 2010 - 2:59pm

I, like all of you do miss Jeff's Seminole County feed. I am also at a loss as to what P25 is about, but I did some digging and have an excellent source of info in the link below.

It looks like perhaps the analog scanners of yesterday may not work. After reading the link I was left with the pression that perhaps a digital scanner may be required. After reading the link and searching for further info I am certain what will be needed nor do we even know that Seminole is going to Project 25 as they call it.

I am new to the scanner scene. I purchased an iPhone and got an at that allows listening to feeds that are provided by folks like Jeff. I listened so frequently that I became addicted! My wife enjoyed it every bit as much as I did! We are located in an unincorporated section of Longwood, and I even began to learn the signal and ten codes.

I am a local ham licensed in 1963 and would gladly offer my services if I may be of se help in one way or another.

73's to all

Updated the system to a P25 system not a trunked system. I don't know what all the tech talk stands for but basically the signal has an Encryption on it. So........... Is this bye bye scanner site????? I hope not this is a great site. but sounds like the cops are getting more crooked .. Or maybe this is in the new health care bill.

  • reply

Cops more crooked??

Anonymous — February 12, 2010 - 11:31am

If you think the cops are crooked, maybe you shouldn't be listening anyway. Most people listen either because they respect what LEO does or they are crooks trying to beat the system.

I really miss this site!

Anonymous — January 26, 2010 - 10:46pm

I wish this site was operational again! Aside from the pure entertainment, it also gave me knowledge as to what was happening in my neighborhood. Just yesterday, I had a Sheriff helicoper buzzing over my house for about a half hour...would have been nice to hear what was going on!

Come back please!!!!!

Anyone in the Orlando Metro area program this radio. I am totally confused how to program this for Seminole and Orange County fire and police. I am willing to pay a reasonable fee for this service. Please respond to Charlie2909@earthlink.net if you know of someone that programs this type of radio. Thanks

I have the same problem. I have a Radio Shack triple trunking handheld scanner and I have it programmed for Seminole County from radio shack. It's picking up SCSO, Oviedo PD, SCFR, and that's about it. I need to listen to sanford. Have you or anyone else had any luck?

Police scanner answer

Anonymous — September 19, 2009 - 10:16am

According to F.S. 843.16, you may not (transport) or install a police scanner in any vehicle unless you are a police officer, employee of emergency services, full time employee of media, or have a radio operators license. You may have a police scanner at your home though. Hope this helps.

POLICE SCANNER answer

Anonymous — December 3, 2009 - 7:13pm

i dont see the reason why the media is allowed to monitor police radios and private citizens are not. it makes no sense, its all about media sensationalism. and if its because the private citizen cant be trusted, well the media could be the same. If its to keep curious people away it makes no sense cause the media will inform anyways. well i have no problem with any of the comm systems and frequencies. im glad i paid attention to my instructor at signal tower and other tech comm schools in europe. no comm traffic unheard.

Scanning in Orlando, Fl.

Anonymous — April 15, 2009 - 3:04pm

I know I'm going to look like a moron, but I've searched the entire web and can't find a straight answer:
Can you still listen to the Police in Orlando with a good digital scanner, i.e. BCD396T?
It's just that I found a ton of threads talking about the pending encryption in the middle of '08, and not a single one, anywhere, talking about how it's already happened. I don't want to go and spend $500 on a scanner I can't use. I'm a stay at home dad and my son and I where looking forward to this hobby.
Thanks in advance for any insight!

You can listen to the Orange

Anonymous — May 9, 2009 - 10:57am

You can listen to the Orange County Sheriff's Office which covers quite a bit more area. Unless you live in downtown Orlando or in the immediate area you'd probably want to listen to OCSO anyways. They're far more interesting. :)

NO.. .OPD is 100% encrypted at this time.. I would not go as far as to say it is impossible to decrypt it.. however keep in mind it is100% Illegal on a federal level to decrypt it.

Anonymous — July 23, 2009 - 11:25pm

yes OPD x-missions are encrypted however keep in mind that it has beed decrypted and it is even illegal to spit on the ground and people do it. since you will not be x-mitting from your device, have no worries. it is good for great citizens to know what goes on in their neighborhood and keep safe. believe me, listening to police comms in another state some years ago helped me safe a familys life.

Other Scanners in Floirda

Anonymous — March 31, 2009 - 9:32am

For more scanners online check out www.ScanAmerica.us

If you have a scanner you're not using and you would like to provide a scanner feed for ScanAmerica, e-mail Gordon at gordon@scanamerica.us and I'll send you easy to follow instructions on how to set it up. Please include a list of the agencies that would be on your feed along with the county or counties your feed would cover and in what state.

To provide a scanner feed you do not need to have a second computer, you can use the computer you normally use to surf the web as long as you leave it on all the time. In addition, you'll also need a DSL or Cable Modem connection to the Internet and an audio cable to connect the earphone jack of your scanner to the Line In input of your computer's sound card.

Providing a scanner feed will not slow down your Internet connection, the digitized audio that is sent to my server uses only a fraction of the upload portion of your connection, the part of your connection which you use very little of anyways. Providing a scanner feed will use approximately 5GB of bandwidth per month.

Everyone that provides a scanner feed receives:
Credit on this page for providing the feed.
Access to lots of feed statistics (such as peak and number of unique listeners for feeds over the past week, 2 weeks, month, etc) for the scanner feeds.
The rank of Scanner Feed Provider in the forums as well as a bunch of $$$'s under their name.
Lots of grateful listeners and a warm fuzzy feeling in your heart.

Anonymous — March 18, 2008 - 12:51pm

Do you have to have a digital scanner to pick up all those frequencies on the seminole and orange county areas. Just wondering because I am thinking about getting a scanner and not sure if I should go the cheap route with analog.

Be careful about scanners. With the re-banding issue you could buy a "pig in a poke" if you do not do your research. There are currently 3(2 are the same unit with different names) Radio Shack and GRE are available in digital P25 models. UNIDEN also has models. Both Uniden and GRE make a portable and a mobile ( can be used as a fixed base) I currently use both for my "shack". I recommend software regardless of which you select. Spend the extra money Go Digital.
