CIA Planned Simulated Attack on September 11th

Got Glass? Not anymore...

ARGH!

The Orlando Weekly has a great article about the recent seizure of pipes and other tobacco smoking accessories by Seminole County Sheriff's Office.

The cops stormed several local shops, in full assault gear, at least a dozen to each store... first of all, if these people are pots smokers, they are NOT going to run anywhere. And besides, what's the crime? No weed was found. Did it suddenly become illegal to smoke tobacco too?

I'm not sure how I feel about this one..

The US Justice department is finally going to after the little guy... you, and me. Are you still using Gnutella or other P2P services.. swapping mp3s, videos, or otherwise? The US Department of Justice wants to put you in jail for 5 years.

I'm very conflicted. First, I'm pissed off. What about this "war on terrorism" we're supposedly fighting? Doesn't John Ashcroft and his marry band of conservative dimwitted thugs have anything better to do than to prosecute _you_ for sharing M$ Office with your sibling? Obviously not!

But the fact of the matter is, people own the rights to these videos, songs, and software that we all have on our hard drives. They do not belong to us, we did not pay for them... The music/video industry is only asking the Justice Department to enforce the law. Perhaps the law is bad, it doesn't mean we should arbitrarily disobey it. Perhaps the answer is boycotting the industry all together. When people stop downloading mp3s, the artists will loose their exposure -- only harming future record sales. Whatever the answer, it's a fucking mess.. big brother _is_ watching.

Be careful, don't let them make an example out of you -- yes you, 'Mr. 40GB Of Digital Music.'
